Planet Smashers - (Set time: 11:10 PM)
Planet Smashers
Are you ready to party or what? The Planet Smashers are back with, "Mighty", their fifth full length for STOMP Records that's chock full of summertime party songs to get your ass into party gear. "Mighty" was produced/engineered by Rod Shearer (Bran Van 3000, Bionic, Corey Hart) and co-produced by The Planet Smashers (not to mention mixed on the same board as Madonna's "Like a Virgin"!) Having moved past the dark and critical themes of "No Self Control", "Mighty" is a fun and positive record that will provide the perfect soundtrack to your summer. Be sure to check out the first radio/video single "Explosive" featuring ska legend Neville Staples of The Specials!

Formed in 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, the Smashers's infectious pop infused melodies, rippin' horn licks and killer live shows, quickly established them as the city's "Kings of Ska". They released their first album ("Self-Titled") on Planet Smasher's founder Matt Collyer's own label STOMP Records and hit the road. By 1997 they were no longer a local band, but a national phenomenon, headlining shows across Canada and pushing their second record, "Atttack of The Planet Smashers" which reached #2 on the national college radio charts for 2 months straight. Their third album "Life of The Party" took the continent by storm, aided no doubt by the commercialization of ska by such bands as Mighty Mighty Bosstones and No Doubt. "Life of the Party", The Planet Smashers won the Montreal Independent Music Award for best ska band and drew attention from major labels, bands, publishers and booking agents all over the world.

Although the band received much commercial attention during the ska wave, they decided to continue down the independent road with STOMP Records, which had become and remains a major player in the international independent music scene. Their fourth release, "No Self Control" was produced by Steven Drake (Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies, The Odds etc.) and was also well received by national college radio and spawned hit videos such as the animated "Blind" and the tongue in cheek "Wish I Were American".

In terms of touring, not many indie Canadian bands come close. They have headlined countless tours in North America, 3 European tours, been included on 3 Vans Warped Tour as well as a Japanese tour in 2002. They have toured with such acts as AFI, GOB, Satanic Surfers, Sick of it All, Death By Stereo, Mustard Plug, Samiam and countless others.

The Planet Smashers are definitely not just a Canadian phenomenon, with releases in the USA, Europe, Australia and Japan ("No Self Control" reached #14 on the Tower retail charts in Japan). 2003 will see the release of "Mighty" in Europe on Golf Records / Plastic Head, who have also released full-lengths from Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Millencolin, Less Than Jake, Mad Caddies and Snuff among others. 2004 will see the release of "Mighty" on Sky Records in Japan, which will be followed up by a tour sometime this year. Check 'em out on the Ska is Dead….and You're Next Tour (w/Catch 22, Mustard Plug and Big D and The Kids Table) all over the USA in February and April and all over Europe in March. So whether you live in North America, Europe, Australia or Asia, keep an eye out for The Planet Smashers!
THE CREEPSHOW - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
THE CREEPSHOW
ormed in the dirty back alleys and dive bars of Toronto, Ontario in 2005, THE CREEPSHOW has redefined the saying "No Rest For The Wicked". Since their inception, the band has brought their genre-defying blend of country-tinged, psycho punk rock n' roll to over 25 countries worldwide with plans to conquer many more as soon as possible. Fronted by the fiery Sarah "SIN" Blackwood (guitar/vox) and backed by the swarthy Sean "Sick Boy" McNab (stand-up bass/vox), The Reverend McGinty (sermons/organ/vox) and the righteous Matt "Pomade" Gee, THE CREEPSHOW is an explosion of live energy that is a tasty treat for the ears and eyes alike… Whatever you do though, don't write THE CREEPSHOW off as just another psychobilly band. While their lyrics draw inspiration from b-movies and early horror films, they're also full of personal insight and personal stories dealing with everything from addiction to anxiety to love gone wrong.
